Points Per Minute is a ranking that evaluates how quickly a team converts its Time of Possession into points. Teams that play at a quick place (e.g. Hurry Up No Huddle offenses) will excel at this metric, while teams that play at a slower pace (triple option teams, for example) will tend to be lower. With that in mind, being ranked higher in PPM does not make a team “good” or “bad”, it’s simply one of the two ways our model measures efficiency (the other being Yards Per Point).
